Description: 

Within our Remus, MI manufacturing facility (Union), we are seeking a highly qualified Manager of Materials and Nutrition to lead the Warehouse Department and Nutrition process to ensure the successful conversion of raw materials into finished products that meet quality and customer specifications in a safe and efficient manner. They will provide leadership to employees to develop a highly skilled and engaged workgroup and are responsible for the people safety, food safety, product quality, and financials of the department.

 

  • Provides leadership to up to 16 non-exempt employees by implementing and maintaining programs in technical training, safety, quality, communications, performance recognition and internal employee development in order to ensure peak employee productivity.
  • Ensures product and supply inventory levels are maintained within Corporate/Regional guidelines to ensure availability of product and adequate rotation of product quality purposes.
  • Responsible for leading, monitoring, and coordinating ingredient and packaging materials and non-stock items as necessary to maintain production operations.
  • Monitors daily inventory of milk and cream and develops and schedules shipments of both condensed whey and sweet cream.
  • Coordinates, monitors, and negotiates external services for the plant.
  • Leads the Nutrition process to assure the highest quality finished products that meet company and customer specifications and government regulations.
  • Maintains high productivity and cost effectiveness through proper scheduling production operations, maintenance, and workforce.
  • Responsible for anticipating and managing the scheduling and coordination of nutrition production in order to coordinate product load-outs efficiently to meet customer demand.
  • Responsible for finished product inventories, the upkeep of the storage freezer and the coordination of product shipments.
  • Leads the warehouse and nutrition process budget within established guidelines ensuring financial objectives are met and that a quality product is provided at the least possible cost.
  • Ensures production yields and efficiencies are met as defined by budgetary and corporate standards.
  • Ensures good financial stewardship through negotiating the most advantageous contracts for plant-specific services.
  • Leads safety programs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Manages the department’s quality systems to achieve quality goals.
  • Oversees the sanitation program effectiveness to ensure food safety standards are met in the department.

You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):

  • A Degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology or related field, or similar work experience in related industry
  • 8+ years of experience in food manufacturing
  • 2+ years of progressive leadership experience
  • A current, and/or ability to obtain, forklift license
  • Familiarity or ability to learn SAP or other manufacturing computer systems

  • A Degree in Logistics, Warehouse Management, or related field
  • Dairy/Cheese Manufacturing Experience
