For our future state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer (TX & NM Region) to continue moving our organization to even larger levels of innovation, technological advancement, continuous improvement, and production efficiencies. Leprino Foods will break ground on the $850 million facility in the summer of 2022. The plant becomes operational in 2024 with Phase 1 and will become fully operational by 2026 with Phase 2.

 

  • In this newly created position on our Corporate Controls Engineering team; the future Senior Controls Engineer will provide company-wide expertise for process controls development and support for our Lubbock and Roswell manufacturing facilities.
  • A Senior Controls Engineer, has responsibilities that include designing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining control systems. This role can encompass a range of tasks, from developing new control systems to optimizing and enhancing existing ones. The primary focus could be on the overall performance, reliability, training on, and efficiency of control systems.
  • Scope of work includes 30% Engineering, 20% Project Execution, 20% leadership, 15% Operations/Project Support, and 15% Continuous Improvement.
  • Implement applications and automation which extends and enhances the capabilities of our process application.
  • Implement solutions which provide seamless points of integration for our team and Plant requirements.
  • Performs software modifications to existing/new process system PLCs and HMIs.
  • Understands and troubleshoots PLC, HMI for process and batching systems.
  • Provides automation support for plant innovations, performance enhancement, loss elimination and process improvements.
  • Supports manufacture, build and validation of systems which include pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, communication networks, HMI screens, push buttons and robotic integration.
  • Assists in development, guidance, troubleshooting, installation, and design of capital projects or installed systems.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art control system technologies, architectures, and products.

 

You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar subject area) OR equivalent work experience.
  • Five years of experience in PLC/SCADA integration, programming of ControlLogix PLC processors, and/or working with Wonderware software suite that includes System Platform, InTouch, DASABCIP, InSQL, and MES Operations.
  • Experience with various instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure sensors, level sensors, temperature probes, VFDs, and starters.
  • Experience in industrial automation networks (ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet)
  • Electrical Engineering experience specifically within industrial control system programming and troubleshooting.
  • The ability to travel up to 30% between our Roswell, NM and Lubbock, TX plants (2.5-hour drive between the two plants).

 

We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Eight years of experience as a controls engineer within a manufacturing environment.
  • Multi-plant responsibility.
