For our future state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking Quality Execution Intrumentation Team Lead to join our team!

 

Leprino Foods broke ground on the $1 Billion facility in the summer of 2022. The plant became operational in 2024 with Phase 1 and will become fully operational by 2026 with Phase 2.

 

The purpose of this position is to support the analytical services group to assure accurate testing to Production, Accounting and Quality groups. This position requires responsibility for calibrating, maintaining, trouble-shooting and repairing analytical equipment, so that data provided to internal and external customers is accurate, repeatable and reproducible.

 

  • Building calibration sets by collecting reference samples from process and completing primary chemistry of reference samples (i.e. Protein via LECO, Fat via Mojonnier, Total Solids or Moisture via Oven, etc.).
  • Calibrating equipment using pre-made or internally built reference sets. These reference sets may be used for equipment calibration validations or calibration adjustments as needed.  This includes running daily control samples on in-process equipment to validate calibration effectiveness.
  • Read Standard Operating Procedures for laboratory primary chemistry methods, understand theory of test methods, perform test methods at highly capable levels, and train others to standard method.  This knowledge and experience will be used for training and standardization of other Technicians and Operators on primary chemistry methods, as well as utilization of equipment.
  • Validating equipment calibration effectiveness using data analysis techniques such as statistical process control.  Consultation of results and trends with QE Team Leads to support execution of appropriate action plans.
  • Equipment troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, daily pilot/sample/weight checks,  and repair of sensitive laboratory equipment (e.g.  FTA, LECO, CEM Smart Trac, Mettler Toledo T-50 titrator, Mettler Toledo lab scales, pH Meters, etc.), as necessary.
  • Communicate and coordinate instrumentation service and repairs with OEM service engineers, corporate analytical services, and other instrumentation specialists.
  • Train, monitor, and reinforce best practices for instruments with lab technicians and production operators.
  • Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, calibration samples, and all supplies required for lab instruments.
  • Maintain daily/weekly and all periodic logs/trackers for instrument checks and calibrations.
