Within our corporate headquarters in Denver – Leprino is seeking a Principal Dairy Nutrition Engineer on our Nutrition Operations Support team to continue moving our organization to even larger levels of innovation, technological advancement, process improvement, and production efficiencies. At Leprino Foods, starting compensation for this role typically ranges between $134,000 and $164,000. This position has an annual target bonus of 15%. (We are also open to either a Senior or Principal II-level engineer based on individual candidate experience).

  • The Leprino Foods is seeking a new Principal Nutrition Engineer on our Operations Support team. This team is responsible for assisting the operations environment in situations where there is a need to troubleshoot nutrition processing equipment as it relates to production efficiencies, out of specification products, continuous/process improvement, and any other tasks that keep our nutrition manufacturing running at a high level.
  • The Principal Engineer develops and implements processes, procedures, and methodology to improve efficiencies and quality of produced dairy products such as whey proteins, lactose, micellar casein, and sweet whey.
  • Expected to be the scientific authority for dairy nutrition production/processes and system development.
  • Partner with plant and engineering teams to ensure that quality products are being produced in the most cost-effective manner possible.
  • Providing technical support when growth, modernization and expansion occurs within nutrition production departments.
  • Participate in and implement the innovation strategic plan in alignment with the company’s strategy and goals.
  • Act as the scientific authority for nutrition production and processes.
  • Stay abreast of key development efforts in academia, regulatory, and industry, focusing on innovative technology and issues that may impact production processes and product functionality.
  • Maintain close contact with developments in the field, obtaining information from a variety of published and unpublished sources.
  • Champion cost containment and operational efficiencies while placing a high value on product quality and consistency.
  • Improve quality, productivity, and speed of commercialization success.

 

You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Food/Dairy Science, or a similar scientific subject area.
  • Subject matter expertise in evaporator and spray drying systems and technologies.
  • Experience with piping layouts, tank/storage handling, and fluid diversion, mixing of fluid medias specific to nutrition/dairy or CIP processes.
  • Experience in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industries either as a manufacturing systems vendor (GEA, TetraPak, etc.) or directly with a manufacturer.
  • Can meet the annual average travel requirement of 35 – 40%.
  • The ability to work a weekly 3/2 (office/home) hybrid schedule.

 

We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Authority on the nutrition-make process including proficiency on third party food manufacturing/processing equipment.
  • Experience in whey protein or lactose manufacturing.
  • Knowledge in proteins and fat within both wet and dry manufacturing environments.
  • Previous experience as a dairy process engineer.
