Summary Description: The Accountant Distribution is responsible for performing internal control procedures, month-end close processes, management reporting and insightful analysis to ensure the accurate and timely presentation of freight and storage results. The purpose of the position is to provide leadership with the key operational and financial information required to make strategic and timely business decisions.
This position demonstrates technical knowledge in processes surrounding freight and storage Accounting. This includes understanding the theory and financial impacts of: storage and handling costs, pre-position moves, freight and fuel surcharge standard costing, accessorials, freight claims and pallets. The Accountant distribution provides accounting support their internal customers in Product Management, Traffic, Procurement, Operations FP&A, Plant Production Accounting and core leadership.

- Prepares month-end pallet inventory journal entries accruing the liability and recording Purchase Price Variance and scrap.
- Maintains the AR freight claims and accrued freight claims account clearing balances timely upon payment and write-off.
- Performs month-end common carrier excess freight calculation used to book the freight rate variance on the financial statements.
- Balances domestic SAP CO-PA (controlling module - profitability analysis) sub-ledger on day four of the financial statement close.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 3+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Additional education may substitute for experience

- Distribution/ Supply Chain experience preferred
